What we’re Reading (or watching) – Mad Ballroom

We have this fantastic DVD available for you to borrow here at the Library.

A documentary film, Mad Hot Ballroom follows three elementary schools in New York train in five ballroom dance categories, with 6 couples  chosen from each school to compete in a citywide competition. The children are only 10-11 years of age and the benefits that they receive from this program are fantastic. Turning a bunch of pre-teen children into little ‘Ladies and Gentleman’ can be accomplished but it is not an easy thing to do. With a candid look at the children involved, their teachers and the wide diversity of cultures spread across New York this is a wonderful little film.
