Librarian Recommended YA Reads: Zeroes

Zeroes by Scott Westerfeld, Margo lanagan, Deborah Biancotti

Book 1 of the super exciting new series co-written by Scott Westerfeld (Ulglies), Margo Lanagan (Black Juice), and Deborah Biancotti (prolific short story writer).

Zeroes is written in the alternating viewpoints of six charcters: Scam, Bellwether, Anonymous, Crash, Mob, and Flicker, who all possess super powers that cost them more than they help them (except maybe for Bellwether).

It’s been described as “the famous five on steroids with a sprinkling of superpowers” and in true superhero/ine story style, some of the characters begin to transform into better versions of themselves. It’s a good read, an original concept, the female characters are well-written and represented, and there’s lots of tension to keep the story moving!
