Recommended Graphic Novels: The Motherless Oven by Rob Davis

The Motherless Oven

The Motherless Oven

Pretty much everyone who reads this seems to finish it wondering what they just read. That’s because Davis has managed something totally original and totally outside the limits of reality, but in a good way.

In this universe, children make their parents out of household appliances and trash, it rains knives, and instead of a birthday, you get a death day. Scarper Lee’s death day is approaching, and his father has disappeared. He sets off to find him, accompanied by the cool girl and the weird guy. The police are after them, and Scarper’s time is running out.

The best way to read this is just to go with it and be prepared for something you don’t expect on almost every page.
