Librarian Recommended Graphic Novels: Anya’s Ghost by Vera Brosgol

Anya's Ghost by Vera Brosgol

Anya’s Ghost by Vera Brosgol

Anya is an immigrant, embarrassed by her family and her culture, she doesn’t like the way she looks or her body shape, and she doesn’t fit in at school. When she falls into an abandoned well one way while bunking school, she finds the best friend she’s been craving.

Emily is the perfect friend – at first, but she’s also a ghost …and a liar.

A lot of readers will be able to relate to Anya’s issues, though hopefully none of them have friends like Emily!

This creepy little graphic novel is gorgeous, and Brosgol’s art is amazing. If you’ve never read a graphic novel before, this is a good one to start with.
